How does the AI classification work?

When you watch a video for 30 seconds, FocusTube sends the video title, channel, description, and your goals to an AI model. The AI classifies the video as productive, neutral, or distracting. If the first model is unsure, a second model double-checks. Results are cached so the same video is only classified once per day.

What are nudges?

Nudges are timed overlays that pause your video and ask if you are still on track. They escalate: a 10-second pause after two distracting videos, a 30-second pause after three, and a 5-minute hard block after four. Productive content also gets nudges, but with an encouraging tone reminding you to take breaks and apply what you learned.

Can I adjust the nudge sensitivity?

Yes. You can choose strict, balanced, or lenient mode in your settings. You can also set daily time limits, focus windows, and toggle features like Shorts blocking and recommendation hiding.

What is a focus window?

A focus window is a time range you set (for example 9am to 12pm) during which YouTube is allowed. Outside that window, YouTube is blocked entirely. You can enable or disable this from your settings.

It hides the YouTube homepage video grid and sidebar recommendations. You still have the search bar and your subscriptions, but the algorithmic feed is gone.

How does channel blocking work?

When you are watching a video, FocusTube shows a block button next to the channel name. One click blocks the channel. Blocked channel videos are hidden across watch pages, search results, and Shorts. There is no self-service unblock. To unblock, email support@focustube.co.uk.

What is the search limit?

FocusTube limits you to 15 YouTube searches per day. A counter appears in the search bar. At 13 searches you get a warning. At 15, search is blocked for the rest of the day. This resets at midnight.
